Okay, first off. I started looking around cell phone forums as to why my wallpapers aren't filling the screen in both perspectives (portrait and landscape modes). After a bit of searching, it turns out Bell (whom Sasktel works with) has kind of a crippled version of firmware and it doesn't do it. The only solution - send in the phone for a firmware upgrade, with a 3-5 week turnaround. Tempting, but no. I just got the phone, I'm gonna keep it around for a while.
Next - Java applications. Amongst my browsing, I stumbled upon a website called u740.ca - a website for hacks found for the phone. I got two applications from this site - Opera Mini and MidpSSH.
Opera Mini: web browser for the mobile phone platform. I can now surf real websites on my phone, not just the mobile versions of those sites.
MidpSSH: ssh client for my phone. It allows me to remotely access computer systems. Here's a photo of my connection to my school linux drive:

This might seem like the limit of geeky has been reached - it's not. For the last few weeks or more, I have been trying to figure out a way to control iTunes on my Macbook remotely. The only thing that came to mind was using a cell phone since I always have that with me. I even knew it was possible since a friend of mine can control his audio system through a web interface. I did a little searching online and found a shell script that I can use through SSH. I log into my computer from my phone, run the script and voila! I'm in control of my iTunes. I'm still kind of in shock that it worked. I would post a video for proof, but it would be tough to show that. Take my word for it or ask me and I'll show you sometime.
Last thing geeky (for now) - new t-shirt.

The answer is on the back of the shirt, but I'm not going to post that. You're going to have to figure it out yourself.
By the way, if anyone has the same phone and wants some tips-and-tricks, let me know. I've learned a lot about this phone already and am willing to share my knowledge, as well as learn more if there's more to learn. Also, for those of you thinking of getting one - I highly suggest it, but only if you're comfortable with the QWERTY keyboard (so try it out first).
