Okay... so back in January, Saskatoon got hit by a blizzard. My car became trapped in the snow for 3 days, mainly due to the foot and then some of snow mixed with v-tread sport tires. On the day I finally got the car out, I noticed a check engine light was on and when I took my car in for an oil change, I got them to check what the computer said was wrong. They connected their device and it responded with "fan controls." I had no idea where to start with this, and since I wasn't facing any immediate troubles, I continued on without hesitation.
That day was January 12th. Today was the 18th of April and voila - problem solved. I got my buddy Danny to take a look and he figured out that I probably needed a new cooling fan relay. So we went over to Partsource to get one... no luck, they were out of stock. Instead I buy a Hanes manual for my car, went back to the car, and started flipping through some things. I passed it off to Danny, who flips to the cooling system circuit diagram and says: "it's either the relay, or the fuse......"
Cue lightbulb.
When he mentioned the fuse, it clicked for both of us and a popped hood and flip open of the fuse block cover later, there we had a blown fuse.
Moral of the story: check the easy/small stuff first.
Now to find a way to afford new brake pads, rotors, and new tires.....
