No More 292

Today marks a big step in my college career... dropping a class and extending my term here to a minimum of 6 years. If all goes well, it will likely be 7 years, due to the fact that internship would be wicked-awesome. So now after dropping EE292, I have potentially gained 6 hours a week that I will not have to spend in that lab that doesn't seem to like me anyway... As clarification, it is a 3 hour lab once a week, but due to some unknown reason to me - it always involved at least another 3 hours of work in the lab, plus however long to finish the lab writeup.

Challenges I faced while deciding:

  • Searching for information on whether or not it was a prereq. for another class.
  • Finding out from the department head that the University Calendar is wrong, and the EE292 is a prereq. for one of my labs next year.
  • Dropping 292 = adding another year for sure (due to the fact I am likely not going to do a double degree with comp sci)
  • Money = gone
  • I'll have to take it eventually.

Besides these challenges, I came up with reasons why I should drop it:

  • More time to focus on other classes.
  • Working part-time + school full-time = dead Wayne (or at least eternally with some kind of head cold)
  • Only have one "long" school day (done Tuesday at 2:30pm, with an 8:30am start).
  • Wayne = stressed beyond measure at this point
Now, before people go leaving me angry comments about whining and complaining, understand that you're not the only ones that read the blog, and some people out there actually care about what's going on in my life... Most of which I almost never see or talk to - thus why I post personal news on my blog.

One last thing for today - I didn't get the SCI-FI Summer Camps Instructor position, so I'm still looking for a summer job. Anyone out there with any ideas where a computer engineering student should apply, let me know, please.
